Tom reveals how close the earth was to being hit by an asteroid without us even knowing about it. Lithium-ion batteries are now more effective than ever AFTER they are recycled which is a huge development. COP26 is the talk of the town in the UK and around the world this week but what was said, who made what promises, and will any action actually be taken? Lastly, the 5th of November is on our doorstep, a holiday for us Brits but maybe a strange one. The boys use this as a platform to discuss the science of fireworks! October 20, 2021

This week on The Conduct Science Podcast, join Mitch and Tom as they explore both Earth and Resource sciences! The boys start off with some news of the world as per usual relating to measuring the smallest distance ever and CRISPR in action. Then get ready to be introduced to the world of resource science as Mitch explores how science is used to best utilise the natural resources of the world in the most sustainable manner. We explore what Dymaxion Houses are, their advantages compared to normal housing, and why they were never widely adopted. Tom takes a turn at the Earth science section and takes you on a tour of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current... what he claims to be the most important current in the world, and how it impacts the rest of Earth itself. The boys get sucked into a bit of a debate around the current state of the worlds climate action... or lack of it and how we should look to tackle it in the future. The Nobel Prize

The Nobel Prize

October 13, 2021

This week on The Conduct Science Podcast, join Tom and Mitch as they explore the greatest scientific award that can be bestowed: The Nobel Prize. October 6, 2021

This week on The Conduct Science Podcast, join Mitch and Tom as they decode the world of genetic engineering and CRISPR before your eyes. As is the norm, the boys start off with some news of the world: What quantum discoveries have been made this week?! Then the boys crack on with gene editing and CRISPR! What is it in the first place? The boys take us through the technology that is CRISPR-Cas9 and how it works. Mitch then teaches us the history of the amazing technology and where it has come from. Tom circles back to how it works and certain ethical considerations regarding the use of gene editing on humans... specifically embryos.
